Rapidious RV Market Intelligence Report · May 2026. Real-time RV market intelligence on days-on-market and pricing. What the data shows, and what dealers should do about it.
Travel trailers are the largest segment in the U.S. RV market by volume, and in May 2026, Rapidious Titan.AI data shows that volume is becoming a problem.
Our May data shows travel trailer inventory continuing to build on dealer lots nationally, averaging 170 days on market. That number has been climbing. Units that entered lots in the first quarter are now well into the aging window where pricing pressure typically intensifies, and new units continue to arrive on lots that haven't yet cleared what's already there.
For dealers carrying significant travel trailer inventory, the math is straightforward: a unit averaging 170 days on market has already passed the point where early pricing adjustments would have protected the most margin. The question now is how much further it goes before action is taken.
The One Exception Worth Noting
Pop-up campers, a subsegment of the travel trailer category, told a different story in May. Days on market for pop-up campers improved by 19 days between February and May, making it the only subsegment in our dataset showing meaningful positive movement.
That's not a small shift. A 19-day improvement in average days on market signals genuine buyer demand. For dealers with pop-up camper inventory, May's data suggests the window is open. Pricing aggressively now, while velocity is strong, will yield better outcomes than waiting to see if the trend holds.
What to Watch
Whether travel trailer inventory continues to build through summer, traditionally a stronger demand period, will be one of the more telling signals of where the broader market is heading in the second half of 2026. If summer demand doesn't absorb the current overhang, the pricing pressure heading into fall will be significant.
What This Means for Dealers
If you're carrying travel trailer inventory right now, May's data is telling you something specific: the window to move units at a healthy margin is narrowing, and it's narrowing quietly.
170 days on market sounds like an industry average, and it is. But averages mask what's happening at the unit level. Inside that average are units at 90 days that still have time, and units at 240 days that are already past the point where a normal price adjustment will do the job.
Knowing which is which, and acting on each accordingly, is where margin gets protected or lost. That unit-level view is exactly what Rapidious Titan.AI, our real-time RV market intelligence platform, is built to surface.
Three Things Dealers Should Be Doing Right Now
1. Audit your travel trailer inventory by age, not just by volume. Total units on lot is not the number that matters. What matters is how many of those units have crossed 90 days, 120 days, and 180 days, and what the pricing looks like on each. Units approaching 120 days need a market-informed price review today, not when they hit 180.
2. Don't wait for the summer selling season to do the work for you. Summer demand typically helps move travel trailers, but with inventory this deep on lots nationally, demand alone is unlikely to clear the overhang. Dealers who reprice proactively based on what comparable units are actually clearing for in their region will move inventory faster and at better margins than those waiting for foot traffic to solve the problem.
3. Pay attention to pop-up campers specifically. If you have pop-up camper inventory, May's data says now is the time to act, not because demand will disappear, but because velocity is strongest right now. Units that move in a high-velocity window close at better prices than units that sit in a softening one.
Price them to move while the market is receptive.
The Bottom Line
Travel trailer inventory is building. The dealers who come out of this period with margin intact will be the ones who made pricing decisions based on live, real-time market data, not the ones who waited for the lot to tell them something was wrong.
